The project pursues the goal of utilizing electric vehicle charging system as an intelligent infrastructure with high availability in the electricity grid. Accordingly, an inductive charging system with maximum convenience for electricity network services and grid feeding is investigated.
Electric vehicles are truly eco-friendly only when charged through renewable energy sources. Therefore, they must adapt the charging power to the fluctuating supply from renewable energy sources in future. Further potential of electric vehicles is realized when they contribute to stabilization of electricity grid through quicker feeding. In relation to this, a solution needs to be developed by means of which electric vehicles are connected to the electricity grid more frequently and for longer time as possible. At the same time, the storage in electric vehicles must not only charge with possible high current but also feed power into the electric grid.
For electric vehicles as intelligent energy storage a bidirectional inductive charging system should be developed and integrated. In order to connect to the public, local and island network corresponding stationary side infrastructure is developed. Research of the necessary business model is also a part of the project.
The technical innovation offers bidirectional operation of the inductive charging system, availability of reactive power as well as feeding electric power into the grid. For the related electricity network services, appropriate business models are developed. Through the modular production-power box concept for the power electronics which will be realized in the project, the components can be produced economically in future.
